Breakfast beside the pool at our hotel in Hoi An. Yes, decadent, I can hear you say, but if we don't do it, someone else will.
The itinerary said Cham Island, which is 20-30 km off the coast of Hoi An. A hint of what was to come was the issuing of life jackets as we boarded the boat just out of Hoi An. Quite a few high-powered craft were evident.
Then we took off. Quite an experience!

The island is quite idyllic with no cars, but the ubiquitous scooters are present.

The team gathered for a briefing and short tour of part of the village on the island. The Cham ethnic group were traditionally from the central part of Vietnam, but this island now has a mixture of ethnicities.
The unusual saucer-shaped, round-bottom fishing craft were present in the harbour. These were, and still are, used for net fishing because nets don't get caught on sharp edges, but they don't sail too well to windward!
A villager plying her traditional net-making craft, to make a hammock, but it takes several months and they cost several hundred US dollars, so we'll stick to the synthetic variety. We saw other villagers going about their day.

After our quick visit to the village, we boarded our boat again and travelled round to a nearby beach.
... and spent the rest of the day relaxing in hammocks or deck chairs. It has been a busy trip so some time to do nothing was very much appreciated.

Back to our accommodation in Hoi An and then we had time to collect shirts etc from the tailors.
